About Us

John and Leah have supported Hope Haven School in Rwanda for seven years. During a visit, they saw that students without electricity struggled to do homework, limiting their academic success and future opportunities. In response, they coordinated with school staff to ship 400 solar lights from Tanzania and helped distribute them to students’ families. The impact was immediate—students could study at night, families saved money, and their homes became safer and healthier.

Moved by the difference a single light could make, John and Leah worked with Let There Be Light International (LTBLI) to launch Shine on Rwanda and bring solar programming to Rwanda.

To implement the work locally, they teamed up with Think About Education Rwanda (NPO-TER), an NGO focused on education, early childhood development, and sustainable farming. With NPO-TER’s leadership, Shine On Rwanda has distributed thousands of solar lights and collected vital impact data—ensuring the program continues to grow and serve those who need it most.
